Jacqueline Was Fourteen

Jacqueline Sanchez was a fourteen-year-old girl from Stockton, California, USA.

She lived with her parents, Gloria and Nicandro, and her three siblings, Obdulia, Evelyn, and Nicandro Jr.

Jacqueline was brave and smart. She had a bright future ahead of her. Her dream was to travel the world and become an actress and singer.

Jacqueline and her siblings had a good childhood, except for Obdulia.

Obdulia experienced a traumatic experience. She was kidnapped at thirteen. Then she was trafficked and forced to abuse alcohol and drugs.

So, Obdulia became completely dependent on drugs as a result.

Jacqueline became very good friends with a girl named Manuela Seja.

Later on, the two started dating.

Then on July 21st, 2017, Jacqueline planned on celebrating her fifteenth birthday, which was just a few days away.

Obdulia was eighteen at the time.

So Obdulia drove Jacqueline from Stockton to Fresno to pick up Manuela and bring her to their home for the party. But Obdulia drove recklessly on the way, and she almost hit a minivan.

— “You’re going to kill me!” Jacqueline yelled.

Moments later, the sisters picked up Manuela and made their way home.

Jacqueline and Manuela sat in the backseat next to each other.

Obdulia drove the car while rapping along to some music. Meanwhile, she was broadcasting live on her Instagram account.

At one point, Obdulia took her hands off the steering wheel.

That caused the car to go off the road. And she tried to bring the car back on the road.

Obdulia Crashed Into A Fence

Unfortunately, the car swerved further away and crashed into a fence.

Jacqueline and Manuela were both thrown from the car as they weren’t wearing seatbelts. Obdulia yelled Jacqueline’s name.

She turned to her camera;

“I killed my sister, ok. This is the last thing I wanted to happen. I know I’m going to jail for life. Alright.”

Then Obdulia started showing her sister’s bloody body lying on the grass

Obdulia knelt next to her sister’s dead body. She told her she was sorry and she didn’t mean to kill her. Then she ended her Livestream.

The emergency services arrived at the scene.

They found Jacqueline dead with a cut to her head.

Manuela had survived the accident, but she sustained serious injuries to her legs. Obdulia complained of pain in her chest and right knee.

However, Obdulia fought the authorities while hysterically screaming as they tried to get her inside the ambulance.

The police suspected that Obdulia was driving under the influence.

Obdulia was soon taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The police recovered the video in which Obdulia almost hit a minivan prior to the accident. It was a video Obdulia had posted on Instagram.

The video was saved by one of her followers, who uploaded it on Facebook. And there was the video of Obdulia live streaming her sister’s dead body.

These shocking videos quickly made headlines.

Obdulia and Jacqueline’s twelve-year-old sister, Evelyn, saw the live stream video online. She was traumatized to see one of her sisters dead while the other made a video about it.

She showed the video to her parents.

Her parents soon confirmed the happenings with the authorities.

Obdulia’s Family Stood by Her Side

The Sanchez family was heartbroken that Obdulia was being charged with her sister’s death.

They believed Obdulia wasn’t to blame for anything, saying it was just an accident.

Meanwhile, Manuela also didn’t blame Obdulia for what had happened. She blamed social media networks for blowing everything out of proportion.

Nonetheless, the authorities found that Obdulia’s alcohol blood content exceeded the legal limit.

There were also traces of illegal substances in her system.

Obdulia was charged with endangering a child and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The Aftermath

Obdulia’s defense stated that no one had the right to judge Obdulia.

Her intoxication was a result of her traumatic experience when she was thirteen.

In an interview, Obdulia said she never wanted to expose her sister.

She live-streamed her sister’s body because she knew she had over 5000 followers. So that was the only way her sister would have a decent burial.

She anticipated that the public would donate money because her family was poor.

Obdulia was sentenced to six years and four months in prison.

She served just two years of her sentence before she was released on parole in 2019. Obdulia was arrested again due to a car chase less than a month later,

“Stockton police say they tried to pull her over this morning for driving with an expired registration, but she took off running two stop signs, a red light, and leading police on a chase…

Police say they found this loaded gun in the car.” — news reporter

Six felony charges were filed against Obdulia, including evading arrest and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
